It Won't Be Soon Before Long

It's funny to look back at my last post 7 months ago.  I announced my engagement.  Now I'm married and have a kid on the way.  (J/k, there aren't any kids on the way).  I'd reccommend marriage to anyone, after careful consideration of course.  Hopefully this post will hold all my loyal readers over for another 7 months.

  • I Update for Big Announcements!

Well, it's been almost exactly six months since I've updated this.  Maybe things have  been dull, or more likely, I just haven't wanted to update it, since it's a proven fact that everyone likes Myspace and Facebook better than Xanga.

I have an anouncement and I want everyone to know enough that I'm even putting it on my Xanga.

I am madly in love with Nikki, and on Friday, Nov. 3, she aggreed to marry me in the near future.  I AM ENGAGED AND A VERY LUCKY MAN!

I'll let everyone know when we have a date, but we're thinking sometime in May or June whenever we can find a hall.

  • Walk the Calvary Road of Love and Suffering

I just read this yesterday by John Piper and thought I would share it.

What a tragic waste when people turn away from the Calvary road of love and suffering.  All the riches of the glory of God in Christ are on that road.  All the sweetest fellowship with Jesus is there.  All the treasures of assurance.  All the ecstasies of joy.  All the clearest sightings of eternity.  All the noblest camaraderie.  All the humblest affections.  All the most tender acts of forgiving kindness.  All the deepest discoveries of God's Word.  All the most earnest prayers.  They are all on the Calvary road where Jesus walks with his people.  Take up your cross and follow Jesus.  On this road, and this road alone, life is Christ and death is gain.  Life on every other road is wasted.

May I never settle for less.

  • “Worth It”

    Is she worth it?

Is she worth it when the day has been long, full of difficulties and going to bed starts sounding like a better idea than finding out about her day?

Is she worth it when you feel that you talked way too late and know that you’re going to pay for it in the morning?

Is she worth it when you have to tell your guys you’re not going to be around because you have a date?

Is she worth it when the practical side in you tells you to base your time more on efficiency and productivity than on relationships?

Is she worth it when she teases you about Rob Bell?

Is she worth it when you know you’ve decided to argue a moot point for way too long and have to admit that you ruined a perfectly good opportunity to have a valuable conversation?

Is she worth it when you have the chance to lay down a God given freedom to show how much you care when, out of principle, you want to cling to that right?

Is she worth it when you have to spend a season missing her to no end?

Is she worth it when you don’t feel like praying, but know that there’s no better feeling than talking to God together?

Is she worth it when she totally amazes you and you know that you need to raise your own standards to be all that she deserves?

    What is “it”?

“It” can be anywhere from uncomfortable to utter pain and takes patience, sacrifice, perseverance, forgiveness and other things that don’t come naturally.

    “It” is not a feeling.

“It” is not a theory or a concept.

    “It” is priority.

“It” is the understanding that joy is not found in the easiest or most comfortable path.

    “It” takes precedence over “me”.

    Is she worth “it”?

    Absolutely.

Lord, thank you for finding us worth “it”.  Thank you that you decided we were worth going all the way to the cross for.  You are the true Example.  May I, by Your grace, be able to follow your ways and prove that she is worth it by my actions much more than with my words.  All the glory is Yours.  Let it be so!
